I recently participated in a crafty elements gift exchange hosted by Cards By Kendra and received this beautiful galaxy-themed pattern paper pack. I am infamous for "collecting" pattern paper, but knew I just had to make some cards with this paper before putting the pack away. I also recently received Tim Holtz glow distress grit paste. This is a new medium for me and I don't have many stencils in my stash, but wanted to incorporate this paste in the galaxy backgrounds anyway. I looked through my dies and was able to find a few smaller icons that I was able to cut out of a thicker card stock to create my own disposable "stencils". This worked perfectly to create a few glow-in-the-dark accents on these beautiful galaxy backgrounds! 🌟
Materials used:
A2 Card base: white thick cardstock 4.25" x 11", scored/folded at 5.5"
Pattern paper: 3" x 5.5"
White cardstock sentiment strip: 1" x 5.5"
Black cardstock to mat: 3.25" x 5.5" and 1.25" x 5.5"
Stamp set: retired Stampin' Up! "Over the Moon"
Various small dies from stash
Steps taken to create these cards:
1. First, using the craft glue, I matted the patterned paper to the black cardstock and adhered approximately .25" from the top of the card base.
2. Next, I used my mini misti and ink to stamp the "dream big" sentiment from the stamp set, then adhered to the black mat once the sentiment was dried. Foam squares were added behind the sentiment strip and the sentiment strip was adhered approximately .25" from the bottom of the care base.
3. Lastly, I used various small dies from my stash to create disposable stencils out of thick cardstock, then smeared the grit paste through the stencils on the top right corner of the pattern paper.
